FAME Campus is an experimental facility where organisations can conduct experiments and research in the field of 3D printing in shared spaces. The Campus is physically located in the premises of Wärtsilä’s Sustainable Technology Hub in Vaasa, Finland where a modern 3D printer based on metal powder bed technology sits, available for use.
Organisations can operate this printer with the help of an operator, allowing the company’s engineers to become familiar with the technology.
FAME Campus membership includes:
  • Expert operator time: 7,5 hours
  • Metal powder (316L, MS1, IN718): 2 kg
  • AM Expert consultation: 1 – 1,5 h 
  • Additional AM Print Jobs at the Campus at cost-based pricing

Services for non-FAME members

AM Services​: Non-members can access FAME Campus facilities and expertise on a paid basis.All services are offered at market-based pricing.
Tailored training packages: Customized AM training from fundamentals to advanced process know-how.
Project-Related & R&D Activities​: Opportunities for joint development, applied research, and testing new AM solutions.

Campus Way of Working

  • R&D experiments only – no production runs allowed.​
  • For FAME Campus members: learnings from experiments must be shared within FAME by preparing one summary slide and​ by presenting the results.​
  • Experiments must fit within the available timeslots and operational resources.​
💡 The purpose of the FAME Campus is to promote joint learning and experimentation, not commercial production.
