Wärtsilä was recognized for its active involvement in the FAME – Finnish Additive Manufacturing Ecosystem, which promotes the industrial adoption of additive manufacturing, and the MAKE in Finland ecosystem, which strengthens the competitiveness of Finland’s manufacturing industry.

“Wärtsilä is a model company in collaborative innovation. The company has been a founding member of both the FAME and MAKE ecosystems and has played a significant role in their activities. Wärtsilä’s participation in developing and advancing the ecosystems is an excellent example of how active engagement brings the greatest benefits from collaboration,” says Sini Metsä-Kortelainen, Head of Ecosystems at DIMECC Oy.

The DIMECC Prize is an annual award recognizing collaboration between companies and universities. It has been granted since 2009. The revolving trophy is a brass load wheel from an explosion-proof crane, donated for the award by Konecranes.

“Ecosystem collaboration between companies is a central part of Wärtsilä’s strategy, both in product development and in advancing manufacturing. The MAKE in Finland and FAME ecosystems are excellent examples of this. Finnish industrial players have succeeded remarkably well in joining forces to accelerate development, something quite unique even on a global scale. Best of all, we still see enormous potential in this collaboration and believe that, with DIMECC’s support, we can achieve even more as we continue working together towards the future! On behalf of all of Wärtsilä, I would like to thank you for this recognition,” says Juha Päivike, Director, Logistics Chain & Ecosystems at Wärtsilä.

The DIMECC Prize was presented on Wednesday at the Sustainable Product Development event held at the Sigyn Hall in Turku. The event was organized in collaboration between DIMECC, the University of Turku, and Turku University of Applied Sciences.
