John Deere Forestry Oy has joined DIMECC’s FAME ecosystem to strengthen the development and adoption of industrial additive manufacturing. The collaboration aims to deepen understanding of 3D printing as an integral manufacturing method, with a particular focus on metal additive manufacturing.

John Deere Forestry Oy develops and manufactures innovative forestry machines that improve harvesting productivity and support sustainable forest management. John Deere forestry machines are designed and manufactured in Finland, and the company employs over 700 people in the country.

John Deere Forestry Oy already uses polymer 3D printing in a production-like manner at its factory, and the next goal is to further expand its use and deepen knowledge especially in metal additive manufacturing. The company aims to evaluate 3D printing as an equal manufacturing method, which requires a solid understanding of the fundamentals and close dialogue with industry stakeholders.

Within the FAME ecosystem, John Deere Forestry Oy brings valuable experience from a large industrial organization, along with fresh perspectives on how additive manufacturing can be expanded into entirely new application areas.

“We are very pleased to welcome John Deere Forestry Oy to the ecosystem. It brings valuable experience backed by a large organization, as well as new ideas and perspectives on how additive manufacturing can be further expanded into completely new use cases,” says Eetu Holstein, Senior Ecosystem Lead.

Founded in 2020, the FAME ecosystem, led by DIMECC, now consists of over 60 organizations covering the entire value chain of additive manufacturing, from machine manufacturers and material producers to design, software development and service providers, as well as end-user companies.
