VAMK joins FAME Ecosystem

Vaasa University of Applied Sciences (VAMK) focuses on energy-efficient technology, business expertise in export, and modern healthcare and social welfare services, with approximately 3,700 students and 200 employees. The educational offerings encompass additive manufacturing design and production, utilizing plastic, composite, and metal printers. VAMK specializes in 3D printing of strong continuous fiber composites.

“At VAMK we have 20+ years of first hand experience in additive manufacturing. We work hard to be in front line of AM education and research. We also focus on other subjects, like sustainability, which are closely related to AM. To share our knowledge and gain more skills ourselves, we feel that collaboration is essential. FAME has proven to be an efficient collaboration ecosystem. As members of FAME we are looking forward to further strengthen our knowledge and to be able to transfer the latest facts and trends to our students as well as be an asset to whole FAME ecosystem while working together in various AM projects and give our insight for future AM education,” says Senior Lecturer Osku Hirvonen from VAMK.

“It is great to get VAMK as a part of FAME ecosystem. The growth of AM business in Finland requires educated AM experts with competences covering the whole AM value chain including e.g. AM related design, materials and post-processing knowledge. FAME targets to increase the dialogue between industrial companies and research & educational organizations to speed up the utilization of AM in Finland,” says Senior Ecosystem Lead Sini Metsä-Kortelainen from FAME.
