“At KONE we have been using additive manufacturing for R&D purposes for several years. Now we see opportunities to start utilizing the AM technology in production of parts that are complex to manufacture with traditional methods, have limited volumes or would benefit from easy customizability. We are especially interested in studying components that are visible for users and thus have high demands for color, surface finishing and cleaning chemical resistance,” says Timo Tiainen, Head of Strategic Design for Innovation.

“The FAME Ecosystem is an excellent opportunity to work and solve the challenge together with such a diverse group of relevant players, starting from product and material design and going all the way to delivery and spare part management,” he continues.

”It is great that KONE as an innovative trailblazer company for Finnish industry believes into benefits of ecosystem thinking. Our ecosystem partners have an opportunity to learn from the enormous amount of knowledge that KONE has about innovating in rapidly changing environment, the demands of which are in favor of additive manufacturing. KONE will be able to benefit of highly specialized additive manufacturing expertise among our partners, which is not easily approachable any other way. We are delighted to welcome KONE in the FAME Ecosystem!” says Ecosystem Lead Eetu Holstein from DIMECC Ltd.
